My Story: How I went from Victim to Victorious and how you can too

It is often said that the sweetest victories are the ones in which we face battles that seem too great to bear.

Throughout history we have records of men and women who have imprinted us with the same tune that almost every ambitious personal development student knows:

I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul.

But what about the unsung heroes, the ones who are under the radar of media and social hype?

The daily struggle

What about the modern men and women who are daily facing the battlefield just trying to make it through one more day in the hopes that the breakthrough will finally come?

  • Does anyone take the time to acknowledge their persistence and resilience?

  • Or do they remain voiceless and invisible in the vast ocean of social media?

Well today, I want to be the guy who takes the time to acknowledge, celebrate and honor you in your journey.

Because I know if you are reading this, then you friend is fighting the good fight. You have already secured your victory spot because you have decided to step out of mass thinking and status quo to create life on your terms.

The good news is that success is yours because you already know that you are master of your fate and captain of your soul.

The not so good news is, that battle will probably get ugly before it finally dissolves and the new day begins.

Backstory

Well, let me take you back to the year 2001. When I was ready to take on the world, leave my mark and conquer this game of success and riches. But I lacked the awareness that freedom and wealth are an inside job.

The night is always darkest before the dawn:
In 2001 I thought I had all my ducks lined up in a row and ready to hit the jackpot. With 2 degrees under my belt, I moved to what I believed to be one of the richest countries in the world. Thinking that this would automatically increase the odds of me creating the personal and financial success I desired. It didn’t take very long for me to realize my way was leading nowhere. After more than two-dozen rejected CV’s from twenty-five different companies, I had no choice but to end up waiting tables and cleaning people’s windows just to put food on the table.

Disheartened and beginning to develop a failure complex, I rolled up my sleeves and plunged deep into the dream of becoming an entrepreneur. A close and trusted friend had motivated me enough to the point where I felt it was a great plan for me to pursue being an entrepreneur as it would guarantee the financial freedom and legacy that I wanted to stand for.

The promise of a great future

He said with hard work and focus, I could be enjoying my dream life in just three years with a thriving business. Finally, someone gave me the hope of a new dawn in what was starting to seem like never-ending darkness.

At that point, all my energy, focus and action went to the establishing of my business. The daybreak that I was hoping for seemed to drift further and further away as we got deeper into the entrepreneurial jungle.

The weeks grew into months and all of a sudden I found myself unable to cover even my most basic needs. I had to hustle on the side for a salary that barely covered my grocery shopping, and I honestly lost sight of the last time I bought myself a new pair of anything!

A little magic in the night

During these trying times, life kept on sending me small glimpses of the goodness and riches that it has in store for all of us. One such moment was a friend who unexpectedly gifted me some gorgeous pair of jeans, which I immediately sold because, at that point, my tummy was more important than my looks.

This phase of my life certainly taught me how to live with less and that turned out to be a very valuable lesson for me. Often we don’t realize just how much we need to live. Too much goes into convincing us that we need a lot of stuff to live and that life would be over without certain things, but having learned how to live with the bare minimum, it’s helped me become more strategic with my business in the long run. As a business owner, I am now able to deal with those phases where demand is low without going into panic mode, and I also know where to cut costs and so on thanks to the earlier experiences I had.

The foundation of success

The failures that finally helped us build on the right foundation:

In the decision I made to follow the entrepreneurial path suggested by my good friend Alex, we found ourselves going to hell. It seemed like the world was conspiring against us because every business we started died off soon after. Clients never wanted to pay us, funds quickly ran out, momentum seemed impossible to create, and in a word, doom and gloom are all we experienced six years into our dream.

But taking courage from words of Winston Churchill, if you're going to hell, keep going!

That is exactly what we did.

Even after six years of seeming failure and no hope of creating the wealth and success that I was so enthusiastic about during my university years, I still could not give up.

There was nothing else to go back to; all my bridges were burnt. I had even lost my home and my pride. The only way out was getting what I wanted!

I can remember nights when I would just isolate myself, thinking maybe I was better off dead and just stared at the vast dark skies wondering if there was a silver lining for me.

I had done my best, worked so hard, but I just couldn't catch that break.

Was I missing something?

The story of awakening

At the point in my life when I was at my lowest, standing on the edge of the cliff, I found the golden key that I needed to unlock the treasure house that stored all my riches. The turning point came in the form of a man who blew my mind away and even scared me a little at first.

Looking back now, it reminds me of a Hindu story that I read somewhere.

It's about a pregnant tiger that goes out hunting one day. She finds a whole herd of goats. She goes after the goats because she is very, very hungry. She is ravenous. So she attacks them desperately and gets so tired and runs so hard that she just collapses in exhaustion and she dies giving birth to her cub.

When the goats return to the field, they find the motherless newborn. Those goats decide to adopt him. So he grows up repeating behaviors like those around him. He bleats. He eats grass. He believes himself to be a goat. Soon this little cub that grows into a tiger starts wandering with the goats, acting like a goat and bleating like the goats and eating the way the goats eat.

Then one day a tiger, a big male tiger, comes into the goat herd and all the goats scatter except this little tiger. He is about a year old now and looking at this big male tiger somehow he senses an affinity with this tiger. But he freezes in his tracks, and he stands there staring at the tiger.

The big tiger comes over to him and says 'What's wrong with you?' The little one says 'What do you mean what's wrong with me?' The big tiger says 'What's wrong with you? What are you doing? You are acting weird. You are acting like a goat.' The little tiger says 'I am a goat!'

The big one says 'No you're not. You are not a goat.'

He leads the little tiger over to a pond. A very still pond.

He said 'Now look at yourself. Look at yourself.' The little cub looks at himself, and he looks at the big tiger, and he is confused. The tiger says 'Come with me, come with me.' He takes him back to his den, and in the den, there is some leftover meat from a gazelle that had been his recent kill.

So he says to the little tiger 'Eat this.' The little cub says 'Well no way. I am vegetarian.' The tiger says 'Try it. Just try it.' So the little tiger reaches over, and he takes a bite off the bone.

In this Hindu story, when that little tiger who thought he was a goat reaches down and tastes some of the meat, at first he chokes on the meat. He gags and then a piece of that meat enters his bloodstream, and the cub begins to stretch. He bares his claws, he opens his mouth wide, and he lets out for the very first time in his life a small roar.

The roar of awakening

That first roar isn't very fearsome. It's not yet all the roar that the tiger will give, but that first roar is called the roar of awakening.
It's the first moment when this " living being" recognizes that he wasn't who he thought himself to be.

He wasn't limited to the kind of life he had been living and that there was way more for him.

The turning point

This is exactly what my mentor got me to see and recognize me. And at first, it was tough to see me as the determining factor in my life. It was easier to give power to conditions and play the victim card. Because despite all my hard work and efforts, I still doubted my capacities, creative talents and the genius code in me.

I choked at the thought that I was creating my conditions and that I had the power to change that by learning how to align with the law of attraction.

So believe me, if you're reading this and saying well, yeah it makes sense that things turned around for you Petri, but you don't know my story and the situation I am facing.

It's different for me because I am… {fill in the blank}.

I will not argue with you, but I will say, you are the author of your life story and if you want to keep re-enacting that particular situation, then fine.

But you have a choice over the matter. You don’t have to describe yourself from the viewpoint of those who raised and influenced you or the past mistakes that burned you.

You don't have to define yourself based on your old self-image just because you have never known anything else. There is something very, very powerful in the shifting of your self -image.

From a local personality with your history driven understanding about who you are to a more evolved, conscious knowledge of yourself as an evolving being who uses not only your human brain, your body, your emotions, but the mind of the infinite intelligence to create.

When I got this, my breakthrough and rich results came flooding in faster than I could keep up with it.

Thanks to that initial conversation with my mentor which ended up in me getting a law of attraction mentor, things started taking a right turn quite rapidly. In just four months my income increased, the business grew I became a magnet to success and golden opportunities.

By 2011, I lived, worked and felt like the king of Norway. All of a sudden I could travel the world, spend months on some of the world's most exotic beaches, became a published author, met and married my soul mate.

By 2013 I was living my freedom lifestyle and enjoying every minute of it. I could pay for things that I had always dreamed of in cash. Things couldn't get better for me at this point, yet they did. My wife and I had our two children soon after, and the joy of being able to support my family while working from home is a feeling I consider priceless. I am now able to work from anywhere, at any time with people I want to work with.

The wealth, health, love and family I had always dreamed of became my daily reality.

And with the expansion of the family so did my business as I have been able to pursue my passions more and build profitable companies doing what I love. One of these is Dreammaker.co.uk which is today my way of fulfilling my purpose and paying it forward.

So dear friend, after reading this far, I can only hope that this will serve as more than just entertainment for you. I desire for you to be impressed, not by my story, but by what is possible for you no matter what the world around you says.

In the end, what we make of our lives depends purely on the choices we make. While I was living in ignorance of the law of attraction and the truth about how my results are ever created, I did feel powerless, like the victim of circumstances. And many others seem to agree with that belief too, so I was settling for a life of misery not knowing that I was the master of my fate and the captain of my soul. If I should leave you with only one thought, let it be this one:

You can rise above and beyond whatever conditions you face even if you've been stuck in them for years. There is a proven, repeatable and reliable process by which you can create and have whatever your dream life might be.

If I did it, I know you can too. So this time, it is I who is coming to you to offer you the chance to see yourself as the tiger you were born to be. It is time to taste the freedom, the precious and good life that you were designed to have if only you will be bold enough to get out of your old story long enough to have your roar of awakening.

How will you choose to write the story of your life now?
